The pair came up with an event to mark two important milestones in their relationship: Meghan’s 35th birthday on May 19 and their wedding on May 19. They went on to create an unforgettable wedding day for their guests that, in spite of the somewhat unorthodox nature of their proposal, also had all the basics of a proper wedding: a bouquet, cupcakes, photography, registry, flowers, a dance, a bridal party and a registrar.

The whirlwind week that preceded the big day started the Wednesday before with one pressing — and intimate — occasion for the couple: the birth of the baby boy they are expecting. On Friday afternoon, they walked outside of their Malibu, Calif., home to find two large packages ready to be delivered. One contained an expensive camera and a second, complete with tools and equipment for Mark Phillips to begin filming a 60-minute feature for his new business, Prince Pop.

Outside, in front of a red fence topped with a white banner bearing their names, was a full-length shot of a pedestal that was waiting for the contents of the camera to be placed on. To add a buzz, the duo slipped on white towels to join photographers outside the photoshoot, which lasted almost an hour.
