Sebastian Vettel, the Italian Formula One driver who drives for Ferrari, will join Aston Martin as a Formula One “technical advisor,” according to Reuters. He will join the British carmaker alongside its motorsport chief and former Red Bull Formula One racer Adrian Newey, who has overseen the innovative design of many of the company’s cars in the past.

Ferrari F1 team principal Maurizio Arrivabene told Reuters that the move was “a huge step forward” for the luxury brand. “By taking Sebastian onboard, it’s a very strong action for Aston Martin because Sebastian is a champion, he knows what he’s doing,” he said.

Vettel, a four-time world champion driver, has yet to make his debut on the factory Formula One racing team, though he does have a contract. Aston Martin, whose race car is named after the James Bond character Aston Martin, is no stranger to racing, as it has been part of the European Le Mans series for nearly 40 years. In April, the firm announced that it would be racing in the New York City Super Racing Series, which includes event-suited drivers and passenger-filled luxury sedans, as well as private races in Belgium and Paris.
