Authorities said a 65-year-old man detained in Tennessee has been charged with kidnapping a man in Fresno, California, after a series of domestic violence incidents on Sunday. The man is also believed to have killed another man in the incident. At least one of the victims was shot with a handgun, according to the Fresno Bee.
Bret Eugene Franklin was arrested on charges of sexual battery of a child and criminal threats. Franklin was previously indicted by a Fresno County grand jury earlier this year for felony assault, attempted kidnapping, felony child molestation, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, battery by strangulation, and infliction of great bodily injury on an unconscious person, according to the paper. The criminal investigation is ongoing and additional charges are possible.
According to the paper, Fresno Police Department homicide investigators began their investigation into the shooting that occurred on Sunday afternoon and arrived at the residence around 6:30 p.m. to find the victims. Fresno police told the paper that three victims were shot and there was one other person who was seriously injured. This is still under investigation, however.
