Kate Middleton and Prince William Will Be Married in New York City in May

The city is gearing up for a royal coming.

For Brit-watchers and Brooklyn residents looking to experience a royal wedding — of Kate Middleton and Prince William — at least once, the Barclays Center will play host to the bride and groom on May 19, 2017. (The wedding that night is already sold out.)

The 2012 wedding took place at Westminster Abbey, with Prince William defending the throne for the first time.

The rehearsal at the Barclay Center will be open to the public with a ticket on CanNaughty, a website that previously hosted a bondage meet-up in the bowels of the arena and a themed fashion show.

“We still hope to have thousands of people come in and see the performance, and then head off to their weddings that same day,” the site’s founder and managing director, Jonah Silver, told the Wall Street Journal.

And so it will be another Brooklyn celebration of royal rule.

Or maybe we’ll have the Brooklyn equivalent of “Meghan Markle Rocks.”

In 2016, Markle, now the Duchess of Sussex, married Prince Harry at Windsor Castle. In November, Prince William will marry his wife, Kate Middleton, a longtime fixture in the hearts of Brooklynites and working couples across the borough.

Queen Elizabeth is expected to attend the royal wedding at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle — just miles away from the Barclays Center.
