A four-eared kitten is becoming an internet sensation, with her life story and many fantastic encounters with humans touching up hundreds of thousands of views.

Candi’s story reads like a fiction book, but it’s mostly true.

Her owners took her home when she was four weeks old, because she didn’t have any ears.

Candi, who is now two years old, had a severe congenital ear malformation, but surgeons were able to correct the problem.

But instead of three beautiful ears, Candi’s ears joined at the top – and she is now so fast with four that she doesn’t even notice she has one.

Candi was taken home for a short time to a sheltered home for kittens, and while there she met a skunk.

It turned out to be much warmer than her cooing was expecting.

They cuddled up together and then went upstairs to explore – Candi’s owner heard a loud noise and came down to find her close to death, covered in scabies.

Thankfully, the cat rescued herself with kindness, and everyone at the sheltered home was impressed by her bravery.

Candi’s plucky tale made her an instant celebrity. She’s now saved by volunteers, who are a little surprised at her energetic personality.

She’s now part of the Los Angeles Echo Foundation, which puts on charity games where they have fun with rescue animals.

Candi’s story has now made its way to Facebook, where her page – called Candi’s Lives – has 717,000 likes and thousands of shares.

Her story has been told by YouTube celebrities, featured in TV shows like the Ellen DeGeneres Show, and in the hands of author Lynne Lewis as the source material for her book.

Ms Lewis (aka “The Cat Disasters”) says Candi has captured the public’s imagination because of her unusual good cheer.

She has a kind nature and “her demeanor toward humans is so extraordinary, you feel like she is enjoying us just as much as we are enjoying her”, Ms Lewis told BuzzFeed.

But Candi is not without her troubles, and most recently spent a week in the animal shelter suffering from a skin condition.

Thankfully, she was given veterinary treatment, which has made her feel better and will hopefully keep her calm.
