Are passport photos worth the risk?

These are the four digits used to identify an individual or group through a photograph for either routine or emergency situations.

The digital photographs are attached to a document that has four randomly selected characters (v, j, o, s, a) on one side. Both the digital photo and document are superimposed on top of each other, so no two individuals look the same.

In some countries, travelers have been using passport pictures on a tamper-proof plastic material used to hold personal documents, passport photos and wedding invitations. But these plastic passports don’t work for travellers from the United States, Canada or other common destinations in the western hemisphere. This is a huge problem because people from those countries can’t simply get a regular passport.

Now, the government of Canada wants to create a digital passport and make the process simpler for Canadians. It could be a huge boon for travelers from other countries who see Canada as a European continent.

Do you take digital passport pictures? Would it improve your travel experience?
