AMC Networks and Rovi Corporation to Support U.S. Accessibility Requirements to Include Live Captioning at Certain AMC and IFC Movie Theaters

AMC Networks and Rovi Corporation today announced that they are supporting the U.S. accessibility requirements to include live captioning at certain AMC and IFC movie theaters.

This will be supported in select IFC and AMC theaters, which are located in 14 U.S. markets, including Albuquerque, New Mexico; Bakersfield, California; Boise, Idaho; Colorado Springs, Colorado; El Paso, Texas; Fresno, California; Grand Rapids, Michigan; Indianapolis, Indiana; Memphis, Tennessee; Wichita, Kansas; Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and Wichita, Kansas. More than 300 theaters will implement the caption support across AMC and IFC branded theaters this year.

With this addition, IFC and AMC will join AMC Theatres, Cinemark Theatres, Carmike Cinemas, Cinemark USA, Regal Entertainment Group, Regal Entertainment Group, Cinemark Theatres, Cineplex Entertainment, Boston Cinemas, Cineplex Entertainment Canada, Regal Entertainment Group of Canada, Cinemark Theatres of Canada, Magic Movies, Inc., Minneapolis, Entertainment Cinemas Group and Barnes & Noble.

In addition to the onscreen captions capability, AMC Entertainment, LLC owns and operates over 260 Imax® equipped movie theaters with participating captioning partners and recently rolled out IMAX digital service.
